Malcolm Johnson

Dr. Malcolm Johnson is a board certified Emergency Physician. Dr. Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He was the recipient of a four-year scholarship to play football for the University of Wisconsin. He continued his studies as a National Institutes of Health Fellow doing research in transplant immunology and was published in the Journal of Transplantation. He attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He completed his internship at Morehouse School of Medicine, Dept. of Surgery and his residency at Emory Dept. of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Johnson currently practices in the San Francisco Bay Area at John Muir Hospital – Walnut Creek and Concord campuses. He is also a certified Wound Care Specialist. Dr. Johnson serves as the Fire Service Medical Director for five of the six fire agencies in Contra Costa County. As an Emergency Department Physician, Dr. Johnson has held positions as medical director, quality director and the owner of two urgent care businesses. As the fire department medical director, he has had the opportunity to be innovate in a multitude of pre-hospital programs and initiatives. Dr. Johnson continues to serve in the pre-hospital space where he has been actively involved in search and rescue. Dr. Johnson serves on the California Task Force 4 State Search and Rescue Team as the team physician. He is a member of the collaborative California Highway Patrol/ San Ramon Fire Protection District Helicopter Rescue Team. Dr. Johnson served as the project champion for the San Ramon Fire Protection District Fire First Mental Health Initiative. He has been committed and dedicated to serving the community with compassion and pride for over two decades.
